About The IATS Initiative

The Concept

When faced with challenges and crises, Americans have always demonstrated an empowering resolve to join together — to take small actions and big actions — and solve the problems that surround them.

As the largest and leading non-profit family service agency in Georgia, Families First has witnessed firsthand the challenges facing American children and families in these trying times.  We have also witnessed great and positive impacts when individuals resolve to take whatever actions they can to address problems in their communities.

This is what I Am The Solution is all about.  Through this campaign, Families First is issuing a simple, but direct, call to action: Let’s join together and make individual decisions — individual resolutions — to be a part of solutions for children and families.

The Initiative

What better time than now to launch a campaign that’s about individual empowerment and solutions.  And, what better way to empower individuals to make solutions possible than to challenge them to make resolutions that will impact others?

When people make and keep resolutions to help children and families, real problems will be met with real solutions in communities all over the world.

This initiative includes three core components:

  • An Online Community:  We realize resolutions aren’t always easy to keep. The
I Am The Solution Web site is designed to help keep you accountable, provide tools to track your progress and connect you with other people and resources that will empower you along the way.
  • Public Service Announcements: People all over metro Atlanta joined together to film PSAs to promote I Am The Solution and to encourage individuals all over the nation to realize they too can be a part of big solutions in their communities. Families First is proud to have the support of several notable athletes, entertainers, business leaders, politicians and community advocates who are all celebrities in their own right — people like the initiative spokesperson Keith Brooking, All Pro Atlanta Falcons Linebacker and founder of the Keith Brooking Foundation, hip hop artist Big Boi, alternative rock band Collective Soul, Atlanta Braves Right Fielder Jeff Francoeur and HGTV host Vern Yip, to name a few.
  • The I Am The Solution T: This initiative is more than a campaign or a catchy phrase.  Thousands of people who believe in the collective power of individual decisions are proudly sporting the I Am The Solution T-shirt. This T is quickly becoming more than a fashion statement, but a reminder to all who wear it and all who view it that empowerment and solutions begin with one individual.

The Leader

I Am The Solution is a Families First initiative. We are proud to lead this initiative because solutions are part of our everyday work.  Families First is the largest and leading non-profit family service agency in Georgia — assisting more than 40,000 children and families each year and serving metro Atlanta for more than 100 years.

We deliver empowering and sustainable solutions for children and families — improving child well-being, adult self-sufficiency and parenting skills. Our solutions include: housing and support services for chronically homeless families; residential services for children and young mothers; family counseling services; training and skills development for young parents; foster care and adoption services; and programs to engage parents in their children’s education.
