NANCYS RESOLUTION
When Nancy decided to make a resolution to help children and families, she knew she wanted to incorporate her resolution into her everyday routine. So, she resolved to purchase at least one item for a family in need whenever she goes grocery shopping for herself and her family.

WHY THIS RESOLUTION?
In Nancy's words: "I feel very lucky to have a built-in, simple way to give to others on a regular basis. It is good that each and every time I am doing such a basic, routine activity--grocery shopping--I am able to take a few seconds to think of other people and what they might like to eat. How great is that?"

So far, Nancy estimates she's purchased about 5 to 6 grocery bags worth of food since January. She primarily purchases non-perishable food items such as tuna, cereal, rice, pasta, juice, soup, canned fruits and vegetables and, sometimes for a treat, potato chips.

Nancy donates the food to a non-profit her church supports--Community Action Center--and to residents at Families First transitional housing. We're sure the children and families appreciate the small extra step she takes.

Learning the art of communication : wlittle (0 comments)

This resolution isn't so much for the community, as it's a personal resolution for my wife and I. You see, we did always end up on the same page with our interpersonal communication and my resolution is to improve it. And, I'm proud to say, we're on our way to reaching our goal! Speaking Against Bullying : kmh7390 (0 comments)

I plan to travel to local high schools in my hometown, starting with the high schoolt hat I graduated from and speak on bullying. I would love to bring in guest speakers that have been bullies, been bullied and people that have been affected by the result of bullying. Lastly, I want to encourage those who are bullying or those who see it and don't say anything to step up and stop or finally say something to those that continue to bully other people. Etiquette : Nelly (1 comments)

I noticed that many college students are in college to learn, grow, and become responsible adults. One quality I feel college students lack is professionalism. As a college student it is important to present yourself in a proper manner. My solution is to start a club on Eastern University's campus that will teach etiquette classes to all who are interested. We will touch on all aspects of behavior (i.e. eating, business, manners). February 17, 2009 20:07

My plan is to create a group that raises awareness about the life after Prison. The idea will be to have a relationship with these soon to be out of prison inmates. My hope is to create a program that can will support prisoners that will soon be out in the world through relationships, hope, and new education, to help them stay out of the prison they have just come from. Code Blue Generation : Amadly (1 comments)

I plan to help out the children in the community that I grew up, and currently live in; Camden. These kids are consistently being exposed to drugs, violence and abuse. What I plan to do is to volunteer with Urban Promise to try and provide these kids with a facility of love and safety. There, we will teach the kids about the importance of an education and how to achieve greatness in their own community. We will show them love, support, and friendship so that they can look up to a better examp... February 17, 2009 13:53

This summer, I want to raise awareness about homelessness in my area. Water Street Rescue Mission located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, that serves the area's needs for those who need it. This includes from providing shelter to helping individuals get their lives on the right track. I have volunteered here for a number of years. Through my volunteering, I got to know several people and hear their stories. I would like to take their stories and capture them through film and photos. A friend of m... February 17, 2009 04:00

Sex Trafficking : Bethany Edgett (1 comments)

I want to raise awareness at my college to the sex trafficking that is taking place in our own backyards. There is more slavery today than there ever has been in human history. This brutal slavery of poor and vulnerable children and women is one of the cruelest injustices imaginable. I will make jewelry, create a blog, tell friends, and donate money to this cause. Mature Material in Child Television Programs : cathrynnegrace (0 comments)

I believe that television programs targeted towards young children, such as Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, contain material that is too mature and therefore innapropriate for the intended audience. I am going to write to the CEOS of the two companies explaining the issue and asking that they strongly consider editing out the adult material from their shows. February 17, 2009 03:39
